Guest Lecture and Collaboration Opportunities with Moratuwa University, Sri Lanka

Monika Choudhary, Assistant Dean of Sharda School of Design, recently delivered an insightful guest lecture on Indian traditional textiles and surface ornamentation at the prestigious Moratuwa University in Sri Lanka. The session was organized for the final-year students of the B.Design program and focused on the rich heritage of Indian textiles and their intricate surface embellishments.

During her visit, several students expressed keen interest in pursuing postgraduate studies at Sharda School of Design, specifically in Fashion. Additionally, a few students requested her supervision for their graduation projects in the fields of fashion and textiles, recognizing her expertise and guidance.

The Head of the Department at Moratuwa University also extended an invitation to Monika Choudhary to become an advisor for their upcoming National Project on Textile Waste Management. This collaboration could offer valuable insights and further strengthen ties between the two institutions.

Furthermore, the university proposed several joint initiatives, including the possibility of hosting an international fashion show at the upcoming Global Sustainable Fashion Week in Europe. Moratuwa University expressed their commitment to arranging sponsorships for the event, making it an exciting opportunity for both institutions to showcase sustainable fashion on a global stage.
